Note for people running Windows 2000/XP: Before installing NotepadEx, remove the Windows 2000/XP installation CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive (if you installed Windows 2000/XP from your hard disk, remove the file notepad.ex_ from the installation directory). After the installation, Windows File Protection will ask for the Windows 2000/XP CD-ROM. This is because a "system file" (notepad.exe) has been replaced by the NotepadEx setup program. Click Cancel and then Yes to keep the new NotepadEx version.

If you have any strange problems with editing functions in NotepadEx, you could try to upgrade your RichEdit libraries to version 3 with this file.
